The Archetypes
Being raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a unique cultural upbringing. It can provide both blessings and curses as a man grows into his own. I work with devout Mormon men, ex-Mormons, and everything in between. There are several archetypes that need guidance on the path to becoming whole.
The Holy "Ghost"
You actually did it. You walked the covenant path and hit the bonuses along the way. Eagle Scout. Zone Leader. You married a good girl. You've got the kids, the house, even the Goldendoodle. Everything looks great on paper. You should be happy. So why are you depressed? And bored? Jimmy Eat World nailed it: "I'm doing the things I've been told everyday. Then why does it feel like I'm moving in place?"You're holy but you feel like a ghost. You value the Church and are devoted to it, but it isn't nourishing you. Sex sucks. You feel guilty when you relax. And you're not sure your wife even really knows you. Duty's left no room for purpose.Guess what? That just means you're ready for more depth. It's time you go further with your faith and let it draw you into the wilderness of spirituality, as it was designed to do. You think you know God? You're just getting started.

The Rebel Without a Cause
At a certain point you called bullshit on the Church and left. History, hypocrisy, and personal wounds from parents and church leaders. Other people didn't get it, but you knew you couldn't thrive there and didn't want to support a dubious structure. Religion ended up getting in the way of what you know is the real goal - being a decent human being. And you met your found family. They welcomed and accepted you.But now you're lost. Dropping a worldview with nothing in particular to replace it with is disorienting. What do you believe? What exactly are your ethics? You don't want to be your parents, so how do you husband and father? Without the old models to rely on, it's time to build your unique approach to living well.Let's draw from research, ancient wisdom, common sense, and your particular strengths so you feel confident. And maybe along the way, a sense of true spirituality emerges.
The Inside Outsider
You're in, but not all in. You wear the tie, hold family prayers, bring the casserole to the potluck. But damn, you're not one of them. You feel like a fish out of water for one of a variety of reasons: you harbor secret doubts, you have nuanced beliefs that aren't General Conference-approved, you're believing but gay or black or tattooed from your past life. Maybe you've become atheist and no one even knows.Church may be a refuge, but Church culture may not be. Or Church may be hollow but leaving would risk your marriage, put your kids in social disgrace, break your parents' hearts, etc. It's not right being in; it's not right being out. You've got to engage these dilemmas. Doing nothing preserves the short-term at the expense of the long-term. It's time to become someone real, and yes, that involves paying the cost of authenticity (and gaining the immense benefits). It also means this world gains a man that faces the music.

Secular/Faith-Affirming Therapy
You need a space that can handle your sins and your love. Your blasphemy and your beliefs. Listen, our work isn't about problem-solving. It's about orienting to your place in the universe. Toward that end, I use evidence-based therapy models that are designed to enter into the inmost cave.
• Internal Family Systems (IFS): This is a unique approach that honors the conflicted soul. Our mission is to understand the various parts of you that cause all this inner turmoil. Then we cultivate Self-Leadership so you can create inner harmony and a clear life direction.
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Drawing from Eastern thought and Western philosophy we can develop a radically new way of relating to your thoughts and feelings. As you make peace with reality, you're freed up to develop a rich and fulfilling life based on your specific values.
• Depth Psychology: Drawing from modern theories, ancient wisdom, mythology, and the humanities you can come to appreciate this human condition, your existential freedom (and responsibilities), and integrate your shadow.
If your previous experiences with therapy didn't hit the mark, don't worry. Traditional therapy can be great for many things. But when you're in the dark night of the soul you don't need a preacher, you need a pal. You don't need tools, you need exploration. You don't need positive thinking, you need existential resonance. You don't need a clinician, you need a guide.

Meet Your Guide
Hey there. I'm Taylor Chambers, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with over a decade of experience working with men in the trenches. As you might imagine, I grew up in the Church - all in. For a variety of reasons I began to see chinks in my worldview. It began to crumble and this is one of the scariest experiences of my life. Existential dread. For a time I became rather... non-spiritual, though I kept participating in Church. After a time I finally engaged in my reconstruction and since then I've never felt more spiritually rich and confident in my way with the universe. And sometimes I still go to church (without the tie). My goal isn't to convert anyone to my way of thinking. It's to support you in reconstructing your own unique philosophy and life purpose. As for the other facets of who I am, well, my happy place is a hammock and the Shikoku pilgrimage is on my bucket list. I find myself enamored of philosophy, birds, petroglyphs, mythology, Shinto shrines... and books! You might find me reading Steinbeck, Sanderson, or Issa’s 18th century haiku. I'm chipping away at my first novel (a dramedy about a guardian angel and a succubus). Of course, nothing beats time with my wife and two daughters. My hope is that our work has character - fun connections, humor, depth, and your ever-growing sense of self-confidence.
Transparent Investment
• Private Pay Model: To ensure complete focus, my practice operates on a private pay framework. No playing games with insurance, no stretching diagnoses to get you coverage, no bureaucratic red tape, no coverage limits that cuts our work short. We focus on your specific needs.
• Insurance: I don't coordinate directly with insurance panels but I can provide you with monthly superbills. You can submit these for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
• Individual Therapy: each 45-minute session is $165.
• Couples Therapy: each 45-minute session is $175.
• Good Faith Estimate: The typical course of therapy involves 12 sessions across 3-6 months. That's $1980 to regain your sense of purpose, balance in your relationships, and alignment with something bigger than yourself. We'll customize your course of therapy as needed.
Session Structure
To focus and deepen our work, I use a structured 45-minute flow to dig in and set you up for implementation:
• Minutes 00–15 | Context: Check in on recent events, current challenges, and determine the session objective.
• Minutes 16–40 | The Work: Process internal conflict, practice contemplative techniques, challenge paradigms, and feel the feels.
• Minutes 41–45 | Consolidate: Lock in your action plan, schedule, close out.
• Minutes 46-60 | Solo Integration: After the call you're encouraged to take time to journal, meditate, decompress, and prepare for your next endeavor.
Sample Treatment Plan
We'll create a unique plan based on your needs and goals. But here's an example of the work we might do.
• Phase 1 - Clarify Context (3 sessions): Map out your external and internal environment, your history, and your goals.
• Phase 2 - Deepen Awareness (3 sessions): Develop and integrate a mindful or contemplative practice to cultivate your presence, vision, and Core Self.
• Phase 3 - Blaze the Trail (3 sessions): Mobilize your strengths to engage in building your values-based Vital Life.
• Phase 4 - Invigorate Relationships (3 sessions): Tend to and rework your key relationships to create space for your purpose while fostering more love.
